Jon is a Senior Financial Advisor for Holkate Financial Advisors Ltd.

•Can you tell us about your work, what you do, and how you came to be?

Essentially, I deal with people & their money. The starting point with clients is to get them on the right track, be that protecting their incomes, protecting their families, income in retirement, investments and savings. Clients who already have plans in place can take over existing plans and review, free of charge. We then give people the best possible advice we can.

There are different types of clients we deal with. People starting a career, people in the middle of a career and those clients coming to the end of their career. Be that employed, self-employed businesspeople or people who just need good advice.

We also help companies, continue to build them and in some cases help start their journey in business.

Working with Hotels, pharmaceutical companies, student accommodation complexes and housing estates around Ireland (through client’s private investment and clients with Pension funds), we offer to raise finance for such businesses and have a long-established relationship with all our businesses which gives a healthy return to clients over short periods of investing.

I’m in business 25 years, working with several brokerages in Ireland and spending some of my career in the Middle East, giving expats financial advice.

•What has your co-working experience been like?

I love working in The View. Its professional and helps you focus and meet other like-minded people.

As a family man, working form home can have its challenges, having an office in The View has been fantastic! When I need some time away from the desk, there’s always someone to bump into in the View social area. A quick catch up over a coffee is a great reset, or a simple walk alongside the boats. The location is beautiful.

 •What keeps you well?

The Gym, eating healthy, meditation, my music, and a positive outlook.

•What's the best career advice you've received?

Don’t only concentrate on the big business, that will come. All business avenues need looking after. This will keep a business healthy, and when those big deals come in, they are bonuses to your business rather than survival.

•What's your favourite book/series/film and why?

Gladiator, Shawshank Redemption (surprise surprise). I always like to see someone getting out of the crap and striving.

Game of Thrones.

Book, Peter sage, Inside Track & E.H Combrich, A little History of the world.

•What does the future of work look like for you?

Considering I’ll never retire as I love what I do, it’s always great and fresh to get new clients. I love to guide people and point them in the right direction. Many new clients I’ve met in The View and I’m grateful for that. Some great people I deal with now,  I wouldn’t have come across if it wasn’t for The View.

The Future is bright, Business is great.
